Tarsal arthrodesis is surgical fusion of the tarsus (hock joint), which is analogous to the human ankle joint. This is a complex joint comprised of seven short, broad bones arranged in several levels with low-motion joints in between. The two tarsal bones at the top of this joint are called the talus and the calcaneus.
