What is a Branchette?
What is a Branchette?
Integrally Reinforced Branch Connections designed and manufactured by WOI are known as Branchettes®. There are existing designs in four families. These families consist of the Butt-Weld Branchette (BWB), Insert Branchette® (BIB), Socket-Weld Branchette® (SWB), and Threaded Branchette® (THB).
What is Megalet?
Among the branch outlet fittings, the so-called MEGALETS stand out, self-reinforcing branch outlets with a traditional 90° conformation to the main pipeline. Depending on the different configurations, they are divided into: LATROMEGALET that can be installed to obtain a branch outlet with an angle other than 90°.
What is Sweepolet?
Sweepolet® Sweepolet® is a contoured, integrally reinforced, butt-weld branch connection with a low stress intensification factor for low stresses and long fatigue life. The attachment weld is easily examined by radiography, ultrasound and other standard non-destructive techniques.
What is a Sockolet fitting?
A Sockolet is similar to a Weldolet, with the difference that the branch pipe is connected to the run pipe, via the fitting, with a socket weld connection as per ASME B16. 11. Likewise Weldolets, Sockolets are used to make a 90-degree pipe branch. Sockolets may be “size on size” or “reducing”.
What is weldolet and Sockolet?
Weldolet, Sockolet and Threadolet are olet pipe fittings that can supply an outlet from a larger pipe to a smaller one (or one of the same size). Weldolet has a butt welded connection, threadolet has threaded connection, and sockolet has welded connection.
What is MSS sp97?
Production Range of Nipple Outlet The MSS SP-97 Standard Practice covers essential dimensions, finish, tolerances, testing, marking, material, and minimum strength requirements for 90 degree integrally reinforced forged branch outlet fittings of buttwelding, socket welding, and threaded types.
What is welding boss?
Another scenario would actually require installing a machined bushing or “boss” in the hole and then welding it from either one or both sides to complete the installation using single or multiple weld passes. Many times the pin pivots on excavation equipment are referred to as “bosses”.
Where is Sweepolet used?
Designed to provide smooth flow transition from the run pipe to the branch pipe, Sweepolets® are typically used in large size branch connections. This butt-weld branch connection is also contoured and integrally reinforced to lower stress intensification factors.
Why is weldolet used?
Weldolets are used to provide an outlet area from a larger to a smaller pipe connection point. The weldolet is welded to the larger pipe (the run) and connected to the smaller pipe (the branch).
How do you size a weldolet?
A weldolet is designated by the run length by the branch length. For example a 6-inch weldolet on a 10-inch pipe would be a 10×6 Weldolet. A weldolet is designed to minimize stress concentrations and provide integral reinforcement without the need for reinforcing the weld.
What are Olets used for?
Olets are pre-shaped to the curvature of the run pipe. Flat based weldolets are available for connecting to pipe caps and vessel heads. Olets are generally used for branching on high pressure and high temperature applications.
How do I choose a Weldolet?
