Hart House is a student activity centre at the University of Toronto. Established in 1919, it is one of the earliest North American student centres. Hart House is organized into standing committees composed of students and faculty, and is governed by a similarly composed board of stewards and the warden.
How do I get into Hart House?
Due to the ongoing campus construction, please enter Hart House through the accessible entrance at Tower Road from Hoskin Avenue. This is the only entrance to Hart House. Access to Hart House Circle from Tower Road remains closed.

Since 1919 The then 22-year-old Vincent Massey (who would later become Canada’s first native-born Governor General) named the building for his grandfather, Hart, and chose architect Henry Sproatt, one of the last North American masters of the Gothic form, along with engineer Ernest Rolph, to design it.
