Can I still come and see the elephants even though I don’t have a ticket? At the moment, unfortunately not. If you are visiting the zoo you must have a ticket or a membership card. Our staff will be managing the number of visitors in all our open spaces to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable day with us.

Is Nandita the elephant at Chester Zoo?
An elephant calf has made a miraculous recovery from a virus which killed two of her herd at Chester Zoo. We reported back in October how three-year-old Nandita Hi Way and Aayu Hi Way, 18 months, died of elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV).
Why is Chester Zoo closed?
But now, the government has ordered us to stay closed indefinitely and Chester Zoo is very much fighting for its future. Not being able to open, despite being a huge outdoor site with all the necessary safety measures in place, is having a devastating impact of the future survival of this much-loved charity zoo.
