Are Lapua scenars good for LR hunting?
I strongly do NOT recommend them for lr hunting. My experience goes from 450 meters kudu 338 lapua Scenars 250, to 300 WM, WSM, 308 with 180 and 167, 6,5-55, 6,5-284 with 139 and 136L. It is a hard bullet, quite erratic in terminal performance.
Do you shoot 139 or 140gr Scenar’s?
I shoot 139gr Scenar’s but that started because none of these hybrid bullets were around at the time and was smoking primer pockets left and right running a 140gr VLD jammed into the lands. I had read the 139’s were easy to load for, jump distance did not matter, and so I gave them a try.

How much more elevation does it take to shoot Lapua?
Their meplats a fairly large compared to its competition so you would possibly see a 4-5% increase in BC which would put it in the .600 range. The 142 sierras took .5 mil less elevation than the 139 lapua at 1000 yards. I shot some 140 ELDs as well and they did not need any less elevation than the Sierras.
