The original Oculus Rift used HDMI but its replacement, Oculus Rift S, uses DisplayPort instead. It also includes a Mini DisplayPort adapter in the box. If you have a VR-ready laptop with DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort you should also be fine. Note that many laptops are not VR-ready.
