I was very happy with the TomTom 710 used mostly in France until the unit packed up after 4 years. I had intended to buy a new navigator with the more modern lane display but was put off by some of the negative comments that steered me back to the classic display and chose the TomTom XL Classic Western Europe.

Is the tom tom XL good for roadwork?
Once or twice it has led me into very major road works it knew nothing about so use common sense. The route is immediately re calculated though if you disobey orders! The tom tom XL is better with regards to directions however the set up is awful.
