To visit Taroko Gorge, you’ll want to set aside an entire day. With that amount of time, you’ll be able to visit most of the places I describe in this article, including at least one hike, but if you want to include multiple hikes, you’ll want to budget two days.
How do you get around Taroko?
The best way to reach Taroko Gorge via public transport is by bus. Buses run daily from the Hualien Bus Station (the orange building near the train station) towards Tianxiang. Although it’s pretty hassle-free to use the bus, keep in mind that the buses aren’t that frequent.
