The Insights Discovery tool uses a circle which is divided in the four colors energies to describe a personality; the Fiery Red, Sunshine Yellow, Cool Blue and Earth Green.
What does the insights wheel mean?
The Insights Team Wheel gives team members an opportunity to better understand the behavioural styles of their colleagues in a holistic and visual manner. It plots the wheel positions of team members showing the “big picture and overall team dynamic”, highlighting their dominant colour.

Those with Green color personality strengths tend to be perfectionistic, analytical, conceptual, cool, calm, inventive and logical. They seek knowledge and understanding as well as always looking for explanations and answers. Often, Greens take the time to concentrate and give correct answers.

Those with Orange color personality strengths tend to be witty, spontaneous, generous, optimistic, eager and bold. They need fun, variety, stimulation and excitement. Freedom to act is also important to an Orange. Oranges have energy and like to bounce around to different projects or tasks.
How do you discuss insights?
Here are the six steps I take:
- State the context and background. Put the person reading the insight into the situation.
- Explain what you’ve learned.
- Articulate the root cause (the why).
- Talk about motivation.
- Communicate the consequences.
- (If necessary) Recommend the next steps.
What is insights preference flow?
The Preference Flow Graph: The “Preference Flow” graphs represent how much energy you are using or suppressing depending on your current situation. If the arrows go up, you are probably consciously using more of that color energy in your situation.
