Is Avondale a good stop on a beer tour of Birmingham?
Overall a great stop on your beer tour of Birmingham. For food, Saw and Post Office Pies are right next door. Avondale was my first beer in public since the start of the pandemic, we came because from their website the patio looked super spread out. That was certainly true, TONS of outdoor space to spread out and be very isolated.
Why is there an elephant on the Avondale beer label?
The elephant on the label is NOT in honor of Alabama’s Roll Tide, but rather, Ms. Fancy, the elephant that lived in Avondale’s zoo. Unlike other local breweries, Avondale is inside a corner building that once in its history was the site of a brothel, pharmacy, and saloon.
