In May of 2020, it looked like the end for Bay Area chain Specialty’s Cafe & Bakery. After 33 years of business, the staple of work lunches announced it was closing all of its more than 50 locations and filing for bankruptcy because of the harsh economic situation brought on by COVID-19.

The company relocated its headquarters to Pleasanton around 2014, and its offices were located in a multi-tenant office building down Hopyard Road.
