This system from an E36 is an easy complete exhaust for E30s running a M50 swap. We have this system on a E30 S52 at the shop and were very pleased with how it turned out. The system only needs two pipes shortened, and custom hangers, to fit the E30. The cuts are made on the E36 rear muffler pipes at a convenient place with no bends.
How do you convert a M52 engine to OBD-I?
The M52 can be converted to OBD-I by using an OBD-I harness, cam position sensor, crank position sensor, knock sensors, intake manifold, throttle body, and 413/506 DME. Also, there is a VANOS actuator extension cable available, so you can reuse the M52 VANOS electric cylinder.
Can I use the E30 Getrag 260 instead of the E36?
If you use an E36 transmission (Getrag 250, ZF310, ZF320) or the E30 Getrag 240, you can use the stock manual E30 transmission cross-member. The the E30 M3 aluminum transmission crossmember will not bolt up correctly. If you use the E30 Getrag 260, you generally cannot use the stock transmission crossmember without modification.
Can I fit an M5x to an E30?
The M5x can be fitted to any E30, no matter what engineit started out with. However, for the sake of costs it does help to use either a Touring, a Cabrioletor a car that started life as a 325i, as these cars will already be fitted with the Suspensionand Brakesnecessary for the job.
