Sherwood Forest Faire is a locally owned medieval-style village nestled in the Lost Pines section of Central Texas. We have over 100 permanent buildings on 25 acres, including stages, pubs, merchant shoppes, wedding venues, a complete castle, and more.
What special events does Sherwood have to offer?
In addition to the heaping helping of fun and games we regularly offer, we also have a variety of special events, such as Robin Hood’s Feast , a Pub Crawl , the Sherwood Live-Action Role Play (LARP) , and Beer Tastings .
How many shows are there at Robin Hood’s Spring Faire?
During Robin Hood’s Spring Faire, we have over 150 shows per day by more than 40 different stage acts. We have full contact jousting, falconry, fire juggling, knife throwing, 10+ live bands, comedy, sword fighting, and a castle siege.
What will you find at our faire?
Our Faire is thrilled to present over 170 artisans and merchants offering distinctive wares, including mostly handcrafted items. You’ll have the opportunity to buy directly from leatherworkers, potters, armorers, glassworkers, woodworkers, jewelers, and more. Lots of our merchants do demonstrations and welcome questions about their crafts.
What happened to the Sherwood Forest after WW2?
During the second world war parts of Sherwood forest were used extensively by the military for ammunition stores, POW camps and training areas. Oil was produced at Eakring. After the war, large ammunition dumps were abandoned in the forest and were not cleared until 1952, with at least 46,000 tons of ammunition in them.
What is the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre?
Throughout the year, visitors are attracted to the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre, which is situated in the former coach house and stables of Edwinstowe Hall in the heart of the Forest. The centre contains art studios and a cafe, and hosts special events, including craft demonstrations and exhibitions.
