What is Shell Tonna?

What is Tonna Oil?
Shell Tonna S3 M 68 is one of a set of oils designed specifically to lubricate tables of machinery, feed mechanisms and tool slides. This oil features an extra tacky formula, which is combined with superb frictional performance, especially when used on slideways.
What is slideway oil?
Specifically developed for the lubrication of machine tool slideways and tables. Formulated from high quality mineral oil with performance additives, incorporating a tackifier to ensure that the lubricant adheres to the moving parts at all times.
Is way oil and hydraulic oil the same?
Way oil, also known as slide oil, is a type of hydraulic oil with a tackifier, an additive that makes it adhere to surfaces. A gallon of way lube will go much further lubricating a slideway than a gallon of regular hydraulic oil. Regular hydraulic oils cost about three dollars less per gallon than way lube.
What happens if you put engine oil in hydraulic?
you cannot use Motor Oil in a Hydraulic System. Motor Oil runs at a much higher temperature and Hydraulic Oil starts to fail at around 45c. You cannot as water is one of the worst contaminates for Hydraulic Oil. The system would break down and would cost even more to repair than using Motor Oil.
