Khalwa (Arabic, also khalwat; lit., “solitude”; pronounced in Iran, “khalvat”; spelling in Turkish, halvet) has several meanings in Sufism, Islamic jurisprudence, and the Druze religion, which in some way derive from the concept of being alone or withdrawing from the world.
