What is PROMUS?
What is PROMUS?
The PROMUS Element Plus Everolimus-Eluting Platinum Chromium Coronary Stent System is a device/drug combination product consisting of a drug/polymer-coated balloon-expandable stent, pre- mounted on a Monorail (MR) or Over-The-Wire (OTW) delivery catheter. The stent is made from a platinum chromium alloy (PtCr).
What is Promus Element?
PROMUS Element is a device/drug combination product composed of two components, a device (coronary stent) and a drug product (a formulation of everolimus contained in a polymer coating).
Is PROMUS stent mri safe?
A patient with this device can be safely scanned in a Magnetic Resonance system meeting the following conditions: • Static magnetic field of 3.0 and 1.5 Tesla only • Maximum spatial gradient magnetic field of 2200 gauss/cm (22 T/m) • Maximum Magnetic Resonance system reported, whole body averaged specific absorption …
What do drug eluting stents elute?
A stent is a small mesh tube inserted into an artery to keep it open. A drug-eluting stent is coated with a slow-release medication to help prevent blood clots from forming in a stent. Blood clotting in a stent can cause a future blockage (restenosis) and may lead to a heart attack.
How often should stents be replaced?
How long will a stent last? It is permanent. There is just a 2–3 per cent risk of narrowing coming back, and if that happens it is usually within 6–9 months. If it does, it can potentially be treated with another stent.
How long is a stent good for?
Do stents wear out?
Stents are made to be permanent and will continue to keep your artery open once they’ve been placed. However, stents don’t cure the underlying condition that caused the buildup in your artery (atherosclerosis). You’ll still need treatment to prevent future artery narrowing.
What is the Promus Premier stent?
Dr. Antonio Colombo gives an overview of the Promus PREMIER Stent’s flexibility, conformability, visibility, and Everolimus drug/PVDF-HFP polymer combination. Features the first customized Platinum Chromium Stent architecture, the market-leading Everolimus drug and PVDF-HFP polymer combination and an enhanced catheter to provide PREMIER outcomes.
Why does Promus element have longitudinal deformation?
PROMUS Element was engineered to be a flexible, conformable stent. Characterization testing conducted by BSC indicates that some design features intended to produce these performance attributes may be associated with a reduction in longitudinal strength and contribute to the occurrence of longitudinal stent deformation.
What is Promus Premier everolimus-eluting platinum chromium coronary stent system?
The Promus PREMIER Everolimus-Eluting Platinum Chromium Coronary Stent System is indicated for improving luminal diameter in patients, including those with diabetes mellitus, with symptomatic heart disease or documented silent ischemia due to de novo lesions in native coronary arteries ≥2.25 mm to ≤4.00 mm in diameter in lesions ≤34 mm in length.
What is the active pharmaceutical ingredient in the Promus elementm stent?
The outer layer consists of a polymer matrix that contains an active pharmaceutical ingredient (everolimus). See Sections 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 for descriptions of the drug and polymers, respectively. 2.2.1 Everolimus The active pharmaceutical ingredient in the PROMUS ElementM stent is everolimus.
