Are there any side effects? It is possible that your skin may feel sore in the area that you use the treatment. If the skin is sore then stop using the treatment. If this happens bathing the area in salt water can help – 1 teaspoon of salt to a pint of water, not more than twice a day.
What does Warticon do to healthy skin?
The active ingredient is a strong antiviral plant extract called podophyllotoxin, which attacks and eradicates the HPV causing the wart cells to die, allowing new healthy tissue to replace them within weeks. Warticon is a potent topical application and is a prescription-only medicine (POM) in the UK.
How long does Warticon take to work?
Most patients find their warts disappear after 4 weeks, but some patients need to apply the treatment for longer. If warts still remain after 4 weeks of treatment, contact us via your Patient Record or see your GP.
How many times can you use Warticon?
Apply Warticon Cream twice a day, in the morning and evening (every 12 hours) for 3 days. Do not apply any cream for the next 4 days. This completes one treatment course. When you apply Warticon cream, after two or three days you may notice mild irritation of the areas treated.
Are HPV warts common?
How common are genital warts? An estimated 400,000 people — most of them in their late teens and twenties — get genital warts every year. The virus that causes these warts, HPV, is the most common STD.
What does it mean when wart turns white?
The wart will turn white and wrinkled – this is normal and a good sign that the skin is responding to the treatment. Every few days after soaking, scrape off the dead skin with a disposable razor, metal nail file (that can be sterilized) or by your doctor.
Is it bad to rip warts off?
Absolutely not. Filing, ripping, picking, burning, or cutting a wart on your own will most often make the presence of warts even worse on the foot and potentially on other skin areas of the body. This can result in infection or further spreading of the warts. The wart will either get larger or more numerous.
Why is my wart hurting?
A: While most warts do not cause pain, some can, especially if they grow in an area which is pressed on often, e.g. a fingertip. If a common wart is painful, it is recommended that you see a doctor to make sure it is not serious and to receive appropriate treatment.
How long should I use warticon solution for warts?
You only need to treat the skin while you have warts. Once the warts have gone you should stop the treatment. You can use Warticon solution for up to 2 weeks, or longer if the warts are getting smaller but are not quite gone.
What are the side effects of warticon?
There are some side effects associated with Warticon, including skin irritation, rash, soreness or ulceration around the areas where you apply the cream. What should I do if I still have warts after treatment?
If warts still remain after 4 weeks of treatment, contact us via your Patient Record or see your GP. Do not use a double dose of Warticon – this will not make it work any better or faster. For Warticon to be effective, it must be used as prescribed. It is quite likely that the warts will reappear after treatment.
Why is my skin sensitive to touch on my Arms?
In some neuropathies, allodynia can happen as the skin becomes more sensitive to touch and other stimuli. Neuropathy is most commonly seen in the limbs (peripheral neuropathy), so if this is the cause, you may experience touch-sensitive skin on your arms and legs more than elsewhere on the body.
