There is nothing inherently wrong with SWAT teams. In certain situations it makes sense to have a group of well-trained, well-equipped specialists and sharp-shooters take over. Hostage situations or bank robberies may indeed require deployment of these units. The point really isn’t that SWAT teams have no role to play in law enforcement.
