Is this a good upgrade for a Hollowtech 2 crankset?
A solid upgrade for any Hollowtech II crankset. I purchased this to replace a BB-RS500 bottom bracket that had developed some clicks and annoying feel. This is a really, really nice upgrade/replacement. For one, it looks absolutely pro on the bike, nearly matching my bottom bracket shell diameter perfectly.
Can I use a Hollowtech II BB in my existing tool?
The only thing to be aware of is that this is a smaller diameter than the other (?older) Hollowtech II BBs – so you cant directly use your existing tool. However, this does come with the plastic insert that makes your larger diameter tool work – you just slot the plastic insert into your existing tool.
What are the spacers for 105 compact / double?
It’s a triple, and has spacers between the cups and the cranks on both sides I think. According to the Shimano exploded diagram, there’s no spacers for 105 compact / double, just O-rings presumably to form a seal with the tube. The equivalent diagram for my triple shows the chunky external spacers that I have.
