What is a technical report document?
“A technical report is a document written by a researcher detailing the results of a project and submitted to the sponsor of that project.” TRs are not peer-reviewed unless they are subsequently published in a peer-review journal.
How many types of technical reports are there?
The COSATI (Committee on Scientific and Technical Information) list of the eight major kinds of technical reports, generated in 1967, is still a valid assessment of the various kinds of technical reports. In recent years, other agencies have identified additional kinds of reports.

FOR AUTHORING A TECHNICAL REPORT This document provides requirements and guidelines for preparing and submitting a technical report. The technical report must be no fewer than 3,000 words (excluding executive summary, table of contents, references, bibliography, and appendices).
How long is a technical paper?
There are two paper length options; a full length, eight page Paper, and a Short Paper. Full length papers are peer reviewed in detail and edited, and multiple review periods are possible. Short Papers are generally four pages in length and typically narrower in scope.
