Form I-901 is the form used to pay this fee. Bring your SEVIS payment receipt with you to your scheduled visa interview and when you enter the U.S. The fee cannot be paid at the consulate. If you have transferred your SEVIS record from your previous school, you do not need to pay the SEVIS fee again.
How long is the I-901 fee valid?

The fee can be paid only after the I-20 or DS-2019 form has been issued. The fee must be paid prior to the visa interview. It is wise to have at least a three-day gap in between fee payment and the visa appointment. Payment of the fee is valid in the SEVIS database for a maximum of 12 months.
