The vari flow teats are used to allow baby to control the flow of the milk by using their own sucking strength. The stronger baby sucks, the wider the cross in the teat opens and the quicker the milk flows. Vari flow can be used right from birth as baby is able to get as much or as little as he needs.
How long can you use Variflow teats for?
How often should I replace the bottle teats? We recommend changing your Bottle Teats every two months. And you should change them immediately if they’re damaged, weak or have been bitten by tiny teeth.
Can I use Vari Flow teats on anti colic bottles?
We also offer a Vari-flow Teat to allow your little one to control their own feed. Closer to Nature Teats are only compatible with Closer to Nature Bottles and are not compatible with the Advanced Anti-Colic or Ultra bottles.

Your baby will tell you the bottle nipple flows TOO SLOWLY when you see:
- Sucking 3 or more times before swallowing.
- Pulling off the nipple and crying after a few sucks.
- Biting and tugging on the nipple.
- Losing interest in sucking.
- Falling asleep during feeding without being satisfied.

How do you know when your baby needs a faster teat?
Your baby will offer signs if the flow is not fast enough and it’s time to move up a level….If your baby is exhibiting any of these signs while eating, you may want to try a slower flow (lower level) teat:
- Gulping.
- Hard swallowing.
- Coughing.
- Choking.
- Milk dripping from the mouth.
- Refusing the bottle.
