Who owns Trelissick house?

In 1955 Ida gave 376 acres of Trelissick gardens, parkland and woods to the National Trust, retaining use of the house itself for the Copeland family. Trelissick House has remained the family home of the Copelands, and one of Ida’s grandsons, William Copeland, still lives in the house with his family.
Who lived at Trelissick?
The Daniell family, well know as miners, bought Trelissick in the 1800’s and developed the house with the London architect PF Robinson by putting on the porticos and further developed the estate. It was once said that Thomas Daniell could ride to Truro without leaving his own land.
Can you visit Trelissick house?
The house is closed. We have removed the booking system so you no longer need to book in advance. The mornings are proving to be a popular time to visit so if you are looking to visit at a quieter time we recommend arriving in the afternoon.

There are 300 acres to explore with views over the river, and walks to ramble through woodland and countryside.
Can you swim at Trelissick?
Swimming can be considered at Trelissick but only at high tide to avoid the mud. They are not surfing or snorkelling beaches at all and only a few rock pools. There is a Watersports Centre at Loe Beach and a range of boats and kayaks for hire.

Trelissick house is currently closed in response to COVID-19. While our outdoor spaces allow for social distancing, the confined nature of the house does not. It is important that we do not put visitors and the team stewarding the house at risk.
