What is DDAVP nasal spray used for?

Desmopressin nasal spray is used to treat central cranial diabetes insipidus. This is a condition that causes the body to lose too much fluid and become dehydrated. It is also used to control frequent urination and increased thirst caused by certain types of brain injury or brain surgery.

How do you use desmopressin intranasal?

To use the nasal spray:

  1. When used for the first time, the spray must be primed.
  2. Gently blow your nose before using the spray.
  3. Close the opposite nostril with a finger.
  4. Hold your breath for a few seconds then breathe out slowly through the mouth.

How expensive is DDAVP?

The cost for DDAVP injectable solution (4 mcg/mL) is around $857 for a supply of 10 milliliters, depending on the pharmacy you visit. Prices are for cash paying customers only and are not valid with insurance plans.
