What is a phenomenal sea?
A Phenomenal sea is classified as having a significant wave height of 14.0m or more and this was recorded at both M6 and M3 buoys. The depression responsible for these waves was an Ex-Hurricane named EPSILON, which originally developed off Bermuda before being ‘consumed’ into the Jetstream.

Posts: 44,090. Images: 241. Re: Wave height / Period /Wind speed comfort. I’ve always felt that a wave period (in seconds) of 1.33 times the wave height (in feet) generally provides a comfortable ride. A wave period equal to, or less than, wave height (square waves) will be very uncomfortable.
Can you surf 1 ft waves?
Most surfers will call an average height rather than basing a session on rogue set waves/ the biggest of the day. As a general rule, if it’s only 1ft, it’s pretty difficult to surf on, unless you longboard or are a lightweight grom/ shredding machine!
