What services does the Citizens Advice Bureau do?
We provide free, confidential, independent information and advice to anyone. We help people know what their rights are and how to access services they need. We use insights from our clients’ experiences to show when policies and laws and/or their implementation are having a negative impact on people.
What does CAB deal with?
The CAB is a public service that offers legal advice, information and other support to individuals and organisations. Though they are not primarily targeting businesses in their advice, they offer specific help for small businesses and the legal and commercial issues that small businesses regularly encounter.
How long does it take to get through to citizens advice?
An adviser will answer your call as soon as possible, usually within a few minutes. Once you’re speaking to an adviser your call should take an average of 8 to 10 minutes.
Is it free to call Citizens Advice?
Citizens Advice will not charge you to call our national phone service or consumer helpline, however your service provider might do. Calls to our national phone service and consumer helpline are free from mobiles and landlines. These numbers begin with 0800 or 0808.

- all your letters from the Home Office.
- your passport and details of any visas or permits.
- proof of your income or NASS support – for example, wage slips, benefit letters or tax credits.
