Epiphone’s Wildkat does not follow the traditional flow of a semi-hollow. Most semi-hollow body guitars have a center block of wood with a hollow body around the block of wood. However, Epiphone comprised the Wildkat with a piece of solid mahogany body that’s hollowed out.
Do hollow body guitars sound good unplugged?
It has the strings of an electric, so it sounds a lot like playing a solidbody electric guitar unplugged, just kind of louder. This is not very conducive to getting a jazzy tone, and it is in no way as loud as a proper acoustic guitar gets. It’ll make a sound, but not an electric guitar-like sound.
