The Sarofim Picnic Lawn is a wide-open lawn space that is perfect for more than just a picnic. The Lawn has two permanent picnic tables, and borders the Andrea and Bill White Promenade.

How much does it cost to rent Discovery Green?
The rental fee is $150 for a three-hour period that includes setup and breakdown. A refundable deposit of $100 is also required. This includes (2) 6-foot tables, (1) gift table, and (4) benches. You are allowed to bring food/picnics and beverages (no glass containers or alcohol; there is no access to electricity).
Is Discovery Green Water Park open?
Fountain hours: Open on Mondays from noon – 7 p.m. and Tuesday – Sunday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Please note that the fountain is turned off if there is thunder or lightning. Please note that swim diapers are required for infants and toddlers (available for purchase in the Park Office/Alkek Building).

Discovery Green is resuming the Gateway Fountain Splash Pad, after being closed for 15 months due to COVID-19 precautions. The water playground serves as a popular spot for families to enjoy cool off and enjoy a day outdoors. The fountain is open Mondays from noon to 7 p.m. and Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m to 7 p.m.
Can you skateboard at Discovery Green?
The first 50 skaters in line skate for free. (Don’t purchase tickets ahead of time.) Forever Green Members skip the line and skate for free 5 – 7 pm. (Maximum 5 family members.)
Can you drink beer at Discovery Green?

Kayaking on Kinder Lake at Discovery Green® is a fun and easy way to try out this water sport beneath the shadow of the Houston skyline. Kayak rentals is provided by Bayou City Adventures and subject to weather conditions.
