Is CFE 223 good for 308?
New member. I’ve had some success with CFE223 in . 308 loaded for a friend a few yrs back. He supplied the brass (FED) and I used some back shelf components to get him a deer hunting load on the cheap.
Is CFE black temperature sensitive?
Just like its predecessors CFE BLK meters well, is temperature stabile and of course prevents copper jacket material from fouling your barrel simply by shooting it. The powder also works well for 7.62x39mm and the . 17 Hornet.
What is a good powder for 223?
H322 and Varget powders are two solid choices, both from Hodgdon. They’re ideal for small 40 grain varmint bullets. Alliant Power Pro Varmint is another exceptional powder for varmint rounds. If you prefer a slightly heavier bullet, you really can’t go wrong with Hodgdon H335 powder.
What calibers can you load with H335?
This spherical powder originated as a military powder and is perfect for the 5.56 NATO/223 Remington. Multiple applications can be found in the 222 Remington and other varmint cartridges. Prairie dog shooters will find this a favorite, as J.B. Hodgdon has for years!
Is there a Better powder for 308 than cfe-223?
Really late to this party, but if there is a better powder out there for accuracy and efficiency in the .308 that CFE-223 with mid-weight bullets I have not found it. 2K-MR may be a close second. My experience with CFE is that it is about 2 grains faster in top loads than 2K-MR.
Is cfe-223 slower than Varget?
It is definitely slower than Varget. Varget is 101, CFE-223 is 105. I use it in my 6.5 Grendel, but thinking I might try some in my .308 Win if I can squeeze some extra velocity out of my Berger 210/215 load.
How many bullets in a 308 Win?
Hodgdon lists data for no less than 12 bullets in nine weights from 130-gr through 208-gr, plus it’s usually first, or sometimes second place, in velocity for nearly every bullet, so it must be extraordinarily well suited for 308 Win. I finally found some threads on it. Search engines can be finicky….tried CFE-223 and CFE223, but not CFE 223.
What is @CFE 223 and how does it work?
CFE 223 contains our Copper Fouling Eraser ingredient, originally used in military propellant, which greatly deters copper fouling and contributes to longer periods of top accuracy with less barrel cleaning time.
