Are Blue Demon welding rods good?

Are Blue Demon welding rods good?

It took me a little practice to get used to it, but each time I run a bead, it’s better than the last one. This is pretty nice rod, and for my little projects, it works great. Other than that, if you have stick welded before, you should have no problem getting used to this rod and running a nice bead.

What size TIG filler rod should I use?

In general, use a filler rod with a diameter less than the thickness of the metal being welded. With a base metal thickness under 1/8 inch, the rod diameter should be slightly thinner than the metal being welded. For stainless sheet metal, use one size lower than you would use for carbon steel.

What is R45 TIG Rod?

R45 is a general purpose, copper coated, oxy-acetylene gas welding rod used for welding low carbon steels up to 1/4″ thick. It is a great selection when ductility and machinability are most important. You do not need a flux when brazing with this product.

Is 309 stainless to carbon?

309 Tig Rod was designed to weld stainless steel to carbon steel and still have a strong ductile weld that can hold up to heating and cooling cycles. 304 stainless steel contains approximately 18 percent chromium, and 8 percent nickel…that is why it is also known as an 18-8 stainless.

What is R45 filler rod?

R45 is a general purpose, copper coated, oxy-acetylene gas welding rod used for welding low carbon steels up to ¼” thick. It is a great selection when ductility and machinability are most important. You do not need a flux when brazing with this product. A neutral flame should be used.

What does RG 45 mean?

RG45 is a copper coated low carbon steel rod which is widely used for oxyfuel welding on mild steel. It has good ductility and good machinability. Its typical minimum weld tensile strength is 45 ksi and it conforms to AWS A5. 2 R45. RG45 can be used on steel plate, sheet and pipe where high strength is not required.

Can you weld mild steel with 309 Rod?

In most cases when welding dissimilar metals or, more specifically, carbon to SS, we recommend you use a 309 filler metal because of its higher ferrite content. You should not have difficulties welding on the ferritic side of the joint as stainless-to-stainless welding should fuse relatively well.

What gas do you use for 309 wire?

The low carbon minimizes carbide precipitation and makes the weld metal more resistant to intergranular corrosion. SelectAlloy 309L can be used with 100% carbon dioxide shielding or a blend of 75-80% argon/balance carbon dioxide. Shielding gas mixtures with more than 75-80% argon are not recommended.
