Aside from being useful and convenient, MagicBands are also a great way to remember the fun you had on your Walt Disney World vacation. Like I mentioned above, not only do they come in a variety of colors and styles, but they are also engraved when pre-ordered!
What do MagicBands do 2021?
Your MagicBand enables you to travel lighter throughout your vacation. Use it to enter the parks, unlock your Disney Resort hotel room and buy food and merchandise. MagicBands add a touch of magic to your vacation by unlocking special surprises, personalized just for you, throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.
Are MagicBands needed in 2021?
Yes and no. For 2021, WDW is no longer offering complimentary MagicBands to resort guests. Personally, I really enjoyed this Disney World freebie and loved collecting one in every color. Instead, it’s offering MagicMobile.
What is the difference between MagicBand and MagicBand 2?
The center part of the MagicBand 2 is a bit larger – it looks more like a watch than the original band. The primary difference of the MagicBand 2 is the center Mickey – called the icon. The center icon in the MagicBand 2 is removable, and can be used in accessories that are sold in the parks and many independent shops.
How much will a MagicBand cost?
The basic Disney Magic Band cost is $19.99 from shopDisney. Magic Bands that feature Disney characters or icons generally cost $24.99 and up. Limited edition bands can cost upwards of $50.
Do you really need a MagicBand?
While Magic Bands are still available at Disney World, they are no longer included for free with the cost of a resort stay. Increasingly, they aren’t even needed as your phone or Apple Watch can now do many of those same functions — and more — without having to wear a just-for-Disney wrist accessory.

Long Battery Life Disney has suggested that the MagicBands will remain active for approximately two years before the battery dies. The oldest of the ones that we have are reaching that point and we haven’t had any issues yet with any of them dying.
