Can protective masks be made out of Tyvek®? None of our Tyvek® fabric styles are intended for use in a respiratory protection application. Our application in the PPE space is for personal protective apparel only.
What does Tyvek 400 protect against?
Tyvek® 400 fabric offers an inherent barrier against particles (down to 1.0 micron in size). Protection is built into the fabric itself; there are no films or laminates to abrade or wear away.

Can Tyvek be washed?
No bleach – or machine wash, gentle cycle, cold water. Drip dry only. Do not put in a dryer, dry clean, or use an iron on this fabric. The physical properties of Tyvek are not affected by water: Tyvek is equally strong wet or dry under ordinary conditions and ambient temperatures.
