With SMUD’s optional Fixed Rate, there is one price for electricity from January 1 – May 31, a second for June 1 – September 30, and a third for October 1 – December 31. On average, the Fixed Rate is approximately 4% higher than the Time-of-Day (5-8 p.m.) Rate.

As approved by the SMUD Board of Directors on August 20, 2020, the commercial rate restructure transition has been delayed one year, with the transition completing no later than May 31, 2022.
