Why is it called Longwood Gardens?
It didn’t take Pierre long before he started making his mark on what he called Longwood. The name came from the nearby Longwood Meeting House, which in turn was named for a neighboring Longwood Farm. “Longwood” probably derives from a nearby stretch of forest known locally as The Long Woods.

Take Route 276 to Route 1 North, which in approximately 4 miles crosses into Pennsylvania. Stay on Route 1 beyond Kennett Square until you reach Longwood’s entrance ramp. You can instruct your driver to pick up directly out front of the Visitor Center, with the exception of the conclusion of our Fireworks events.
