How does Phantasmal Image work?

Phantasmal Image copies exactly what was printed on the original creature (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below) and it gains the Illusion creature type and the triggered ability.

Does Phantasmal Image copy abilities?

It doesn’t copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, or so on.

Can phantasmal images equip?

Yes for equipment and for when an enchantment is cast targeting Phantasmal Image.

Can Phantasmal Image copy a legendary creature?

Yes, it can. But if you control both the legendary creature and the Phantasmal Image, you need to decide immediately which one you will keep – the original, or the copy. The other one goes into graveyard.

Can phantasmal copy Hexproof?

Yes, Phantasmal Image doesn’t target, so it’s unaffected by Hexproof.

What happens if you copy spark double?

If it copies a planeswalker, Spark Double enters with the appropriate number of loyalty counters as printed on the card plus one. If it copies a creature, Spark Double enters with a +1/+1 counter on it, plus any counters that will be put on it from abilities it copied and other abilities of other objects.

Can you target Swiftfoot boots?

No, you will not be able to target the creature while your opponent controls it. This is covered in the gather rulings on Swiftfoot boots: If an opponent gains control of a creature equipped by your Swiftfoot Boots, that creature can’t be the target of spells and abilities you control.

Can you equip illusions MTG?

Yes, the creature will be targeted, therefore will be sent to the graveyard. 702.6a. Equip is an activated ability of Equipment cards. “Equip [cost]” means “[Cost]: Attach this permanent to target creature you control.

What happens if you copy a legendary creature?

Yes, you can copy a legendary creature. But copies of permanents are also subject to the legend rule. If you copy your opponent’s creature, everything’s fine. Remember that in order for the legend rule to apply, both permanents you control have to be legendary and have the same name.

Is spark double still an illusion?

It is not an Illusion, it is an exact copy of whatever planeswalker it’s been chosen to copy.

Are Planeswalkers immortal?

Planeswalkers rarely died, except at the hands of other planeswalkers. After the Mending, the nature of a planeswalker’s spark changed: they lost their invulnerability, immortality, shapeshifting and most of their additional magical power.
