Is Durabak and Herculiner the same?

Durabak is manufactured by the same company that makes Herculiner and comes in two versions, one with no UV stability and the second version does claim to be UV stable for a 35% premium. Durabak has the same issues as Herculiner with roughness, uniformity of texture and a hard to clean surface.

How do you remove Durabak?

If you are using a Durabak liner, apply a urethane remover such as Peel Away. Put the thinner onto the liner and let it soak for about 10 to 15 minutes. This will soften the bond and make the material easier to scrape off. Consider doing this in small sections at a time for the best results.

Yes, Durabak is repairable. However, prior to doing the touch up you should lightly sand the area with 80 grit sandpaper. This will help the new Durabak bond with the old Durabak. After sanding, clean the area of any shavings and when completely dry you could apply the new Durabak.
