What happens if I forget to tap out Oyster?
Please wait at least 48 hours as you might receive an automatic refund: Oyster – we’ll automatically add it to your card the next time you touch in or out of a rail journey. Contactless – the refund will show on your next card statement, or we will adjust the fares charged when you next travel.
Can I get an oyster One Day Travelcard from a station?

How much does it cost to activate a Visitor Oyster card?
For Visitor Oyster cards you pay an activation fee (£5 in 2020) which is non-refundable. If you buy an Oyster card in London you pay a deposit (£5 in 2020) which is refunded (in cash/coins) when you surrender/cancel the Oyster card. You cannot load 7 day Travelcards on Visitor Oyster cards only standard Oyster cards.
How much is the deposit on an Oyster card in London?
For standard Oyster cards purchased in London you pay a £5 deposit which is refundable (see Oyster v Visitor Oyster section below). For short-term visitors, contactless payment cards and Travelcards are the only travel passes where you do not incur the deposit/admin charges of Oyster purchase.
