You can now adopt Aventus Aretino. Speak to him in the Aretino Residence after completing the quest Innocence Lost. Compatible with Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP) or other mods that return Aventus to the orphanage after the quest. Just speak with Aventus inside Honorhall Orphanage instead.

If you ask the innkeeper at the Sleeping Giant Inn, located in Riverwood, he will tell you about Aventus Aretino who is apparently trying to contact The Dark Brotherhood. You will find him at the Aretino Residence in Windhelm and he will offer you the quest Innocence Lost which starts The Dark Brotherhood Quests.
