Where are Mavic wheels made?
Although Mavic does have facilities in both Romania and Asia, most of its high-end alloy rims are still made in a nondescript building in Saint-Trivier-sur-Moignans, tucked quietly in the French countryside about 180km from the company’s main R&D facility.

Some Mavics are now made in Romania (Cosmic and Ksyrium series). The higher end ones might still be made in France. I have an older Cosmic Carbone SL which was manufactured in France and a 2008 Ksyrium SL that is from Romania.

What are Mavic rims made of?
They’re based around a 30mm deep aluminium alloy rim which, by modern standards at least, is actually quite narrow at 17mm. Many current road wheels are using rims that are 19mm to 21mm wide internal, but Mavic has stuck with 17mm.
