SANI PASS IS OPEN AGAIN !!! For the past few months the Sani Pass was closed due to Covid-19 and the shutdown of all borders by the South African Government. But as of 22 October 2020 it has reopened and we are able to take tours up Sani Pass and into Lesotho once again .

Is there a tip box at Sani Lodge backpackers?
Dear Huw, Thank you for your comprehensive feedback on your stay at Sani Lodge Backpackers. The main ablution showers run off gas ; the gas cyclinder had been changed and not turned on fully. Sincere apologies! The staff tip box is located in the restaurant and in the lodge reception office.
Do you have to pay tax in Lesotho?
Upon entering Lesotho, you will need to pay vehicle tax (we paid ZAR 40 for our Toyota Hilux). Driving the Sani Pass road will require clearance through the Border Posts. The opening times are South Africa (06:00 am to 18:00 pm); Lesotho (08:00 am to 16:00 pm).
