Kimber Kable has been an Audioholics favorite exotic cable manufacturer for a number of years, and for good reason. They make a quality product that looks great, and measures great, without all of the voodoo that plagues this category of product.
Does oxygen free speaker wire matter?
According to tests, oxygen-free copper also runs cooler than other conductors. It’s more resistant to shorts, more durable and long-lasting, and is far less likely to corrode, due to the reduced oxygen content—at least, that’s the common wisdom.
Is pure copper oxygen-free?
Cu-OF (C10200) grade copper is oxygen-free up to 99.95%. This grade of copper boasts exceptional purity. While no copper is ever 100% pure, modern technology has allowed refiners to reduce the remaining oxygen content to a practical range of 0.001–0.003%. Cu-OFE (C10100) grade copper is oxygen-free up to 99.99%.
Is tinned OFC better?
Tinned copper will not tarnish or oxidize like bare copper. Even Oxygen Free Copper (OFC), which is copper that has been refined to a purity of at least 99.95%, over time when exposed to the elements will tarnish. Exposed copper is more likely to oxidize than copper that has a jacket, so the ends of course.
What cables to look for when buying a rocket 88/44?
Interested in the Rocket 88 and Rocket 44. The catch is that my speakers aren’t able to bi-wire (KEF LS50’s). So not sure if that alone kills looking at these cables, even though they come in full range variety. I personally would suggest that you look at the Type 4 cables offered by audioquest.

With good quality connectors that are properly attached, the 4S11 offers somewhat better electrical characteristics than the 14 gauge conductors in the AQ Rocket 44. The Rocket 44 cables are well made and the connectors are good quality. But the overall impedance of the Canare is likely somewhat lower, which is technically a better thing.
