What is a knee Extensionator?
What is a knee Extensionator?
Knee Extensionater® The Knee Extensionater is a portable, easy-to-use device that uses patented pneumatic air bladder technology to create overpressure to treat motion loss.
How does a knee dynasplint work?
Our innovative dynamic splinting system mimics a physical therapist’s hands using gentle tension. Every time you use your Dynasplint System, you will be replicating that tension giving you a low-load, prolonged-duration stretch (LLPS).
What is a Flexionator?
The knee/ankle flexionator is a variable load/variable position device that uses a hydraulic pump and quick-release mechanism to allow patients to perform dynamic stretching exercises in the home without assistance, alternately stretching and relaxing the scar tissue surrounding affected joints.
How long do you wear a dynasplint?
Patient will wear the Dynasplint® System for hours the first day. If no more than one hour post-wear discomfort occurs, the patient may increase wear time over a 2-3 day time period, building up to overnight application of 6-8 hours.
What happens if you can’t straighten your knee after knee replacement?
Over time, scar tissue builds up inside the knee, causing the knee joint to shrink and tighten. Scar tissue from arthrofibrosis can severely impact your knee’s range of motion. In the most severe instances, it can result in a permanent inability to bend and straighten the knee.
How to measure knee flexion at home?
Knee flexion should be measured with the subject supine. This position allows assessment of the joint range of motion without interference from tightness in the rectus femoris muscle. If the examiner wishes to assess length of the rectus femoris, have the patient lie prone (see 2nd illustration).
What is knee flexion and extension?
Flexion and Extension. Flexion at the elbow is decreasing the angle between the ulna and the humerus. When the knee flexes, the ankle moves closer to the buttock, and the angle between the femur and tibia gets smaller. Extension refers to a movement that increases the angle between two body parts.
What is a knee extensor?
The extensor mechanism of the knee consists of the quadriceps muscle group, quadriceps tendon, patella, patellar retinaculum, patellar ligament, and adjacent soft tissues. Injuries to the extensor mechanism are common and consist of chronic degenerative injuries, overuse injuries, and acute trauma.
What is knee extension?
Dr. Laskowski: The knee extension is an exercise you can do with a weight machine to work the muscle on the front of the thigh. Specifically, the knee extension targets the quadriceps muscle. Strong quadriceps muscles make it easier to walk, run, jump and squat.
