How does the VEX light sensor work?
The Light Sensor uses a photocell that allows your robot to detect and react to light. With the light sensor, you can program a whole new range of capabilities to your robot. A Programming Kit is needed to change the program in the VEX Controller.
What does a VEX limit switch do?
Benefits: Limit switches expand the functionality of robots by allowing controlled motion in moving components (e.g., gripper arm). They also allow the robot to better detect its surroundings, by detecting collisions with external objects.
How does a limit switch work vex?
The limit switch can output only two signals: ON and OFF. It outputs a digital ON signal when the lever arm is depressed and a digital signal OFF when the lever arm is not depressed (see Figure 2 below). External forces, such as collisions, produce a digital ON signal, which remains ON until the lever arm is released.
What does a VEX flashlight do?
The VEX Flashlight provides a source of illumination for a light sensor. If attached to a 2-wire motor port, the flashlight can be controlled by setting the speed of the motor port. Setting the motor speed to “stopped” will turn the flashlight off.

How does a VEX light sensor work?
The VEX light Sensor allows the robot to sense the ambient light in a room. Unlike the Line Tracking Sensor, the Light Sensor does not generate any light, it only senses the amount of light already present in an area. Higher values indicate that the sensor is in a darker area, and lower values indicate lighter areas.
What are end switches?
An ‘End Switch’ is an electric switch mounted on the motor linkage that will stop the motor movement when it reaches that 80-degree limit by opening the electrical circuit to the motor.
