FlexRAID is a highly scalable and smart storage system that turns independent hard drives of various sizes, makes, and models into storage pools and storage pools into storage clouds.

RAID 5 is a redundant array of independent disks configuration that uses disk striping with parity. It has more usable storage than RAID 1 and RAID 10 configurations, and provides performance equivalent to RAID 0. RAID 5 groups have a minimum of three hard disk drives (HDDs) and no maximum.
Which raiD standard requires at least two or more drives?
It’s also known as “disk striping.” With RAID 0, data is written across multiple disks. This means the work that the computer is doing is handled by multiple disks rather than just one, increasing performance because multiple drives are reading and writing data, improving disk I/O. What happened to Flexraid?
Flexraid is pretty much dead software. The developer has been inconsistent as far as support and some major bugs have gone unresolved for years. It looks like he is on another hiatus and may have permanently abandoned the application this time. Check out SnapRAID.
Does UnRAID use SnapRAID?
UnRAID is a GNU/Linux-based server solution. UnRAID is based on Slackware Linux as of this writing and implements data redundancy and parity in a slick way. It’s similar to using MergerFS and SnapRAID, but with a slight difference. It also supports Docker and KVM through a nice and easy-to-use web-ui.
What is the safest RAID configuration?

What is flex-raid formatting and how does it work?
With Flex-RAID formatting, if you want to add disks to expand your storage capacity, you must back up the data to another system, add a disk, reformat the RAID volume, and restore the data to the new RAID volume. With X-RAID, none of those administrative tasks are required.
What is XFX-raid and how does it work?
X-RAID allows you to add storage space without reformatting your drives or moving your data to another location. Because the expansion happens online, you can continue to use your ReadyNAS system while the volume capacity increases.
