About the Ghana MTC. The missionary training center in Ghana, Africa, is located in the community of Tema, approximately 15 kilometers east of Accra, Ghana’s capital. Construction on the facility began in 2001, and it was dedicated on May 17, 2002.
How long is MTC training?
At the beginning of their service, missionaries usually spend 3–12 weeks at an MTC where they receive training in doctrine, conduct, proselytizing methods, and, when required, a new language.
How do I make my house a MTC?
Make family scripture study a daily priority. Have family and companionship prayers before leaving the house for the day and before going to bed. Pray for missionary opportunities. Have your children practice teaching the lessons in chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel (2004) in a family home evening or other setting.

Each MTC is presided over by an MTC president. He and his wife are called to serve for two years. A professional staff with other administrators and teachers assist the president.
What do you learn in the MTC?
This training is the primary purpose of the MTC—to hone your understanding of the gospel and learn how to effectively share the message of the gospel with others. Your teachers will be returned missionaries who know how to help you develop the missionary skills you need.
What do you do in the MTC?
While in the MTC, your branch president will conduct Sunday meetings, hold personal interviews, and be available to answer questions and help you solve problems. There are 56 branches at the MTC, divided into two districts with district presidencies (the equivalent of stake presidencies).
