What is IEC 61730?
IEC 61730 is a global standard for photovoltaic (PV) module safety qualification. As of December 4, 2019, all new or modified PV modules to be installed in the United States must transition from UL 61730 and UL 1703 to the harmonized IEC/UL 61730 standard.

What are the requirements of iaiec 61730-2?
IEC 61730-2 outlines the requirements of testing. This standard attempts to define the basic requirements for various application classes of PV modules, but it cannot be considered to encompass all national or regional building codes. The specific requirements for marine and vehicle applications are not covered.
When does ul harmonize with IEC?
UL actively pursues harmonization to IEC standards when there is alignment to existing U.S. safety requirements. Last year, UL harmonized its PV module safety Standard to IEC 61730, and on December 4th published UL 61730, the North America and International Safety Standard for PV modules.
