What is Kerto Q?
What is Kerto Q?
Kerto® LVL Q-panel is a load-bearing, bracing and dimensionally stable, and it can be used in the most demanding structures. The structure improves the lateral bending strength and stiffness of the panel, thus increasing the shear strength when used as a beam.
What is LVL wood beam?
Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is an engineered wood product that uses multiple layers of thin wood assembled with adhesives. It is typically used for headers, beams, rimboard, and edge-forming material. Due to its composite nature, it is much less likely than conventional lumber to warp, twist, bow, or shrink.
What is the difference between CLT and LVL?
LVL, glulam and CLT are but some of the product choices available that offer superior strength performing properties. LVL is manufactured by bonding together thin wood veneers under heat and pressure. CLT has been described as ‘giant plywood’ and is made in much the same way – but on a larger scale.
Is LVL stronger than hardwood?
One of the major differences between LVL and conventional lumber is that – due to the emphasis placed on quality bonding in LVL – there are no naturally occurring knots. This not only makes the product stronger, but more durable than conventional lumber.
Is glulam and CLT the same?
Glued laminated timber or glulam as it is more commonly known, is an engineered wood product, manufactured from layers of parallel timber laminations – normally Spruce or Pine but occasionally more durable timber species such as Larch, Douglas Fir or even hardwoods such as Oak or Sweet Chestnut are used.
Is glulam a CLT?
CLT is an abbreviation of cross laminated timber and glulam is a contraction of glue laminated timber. CLT and glulam are made of the same material: timber lamellas (sometimes called lamstock) that are glued together. These products are also sometimes called masstimber prodcts or engineered timber.
What is the difference between Kerto Q and plywood?
Moreover, Kerto Q has a higher flexural stiffness than plywood in the main direction (parallel floor beams). Floor beams, dimensions 110 × 350 mm, are made of laminated timber, class GL 28 h, because of the needed length of 7.2 meters.
What is the thickness of Kerto Q-panel?
Like all Kerto® LVL products, Q-panel is known for its strength, straightness and dimensional stability. Kerto® LVL Q-panel is available in the same standard widths as Kerto® LVL S-beam. Additionally the widths of 900, 1200, 1800 and 2500 mm are available. The thickness range is 27–69 mm in steps of 6 mm.
What is Kerto® LVL?
Metsä Wood’s Kerto® LVL is a laminated veneer lumber product used in all types of construction projects, from new buildings to renovation and repair. Kerto® LVL is incredibly strong and dimensionally stable.
What is LVL plywood made of?
Kerto® LVL delivers its high strength from the homogeneous bonded structure. Metsä Wood Birch plywood is made of cross-bonded 1.4 mm thick birch veneers. The panels are sanded on both sides and their surface is smooth, hard and durable.
