What is PowerSchool and how does it work?
PowerSchool is a secure web-based student information system that provides real-time updates to parents, teachers, students and school administrators about grades, attendance and assignments. PowerSchool features an email notification on grade changes and parents can view student demographics.
How do parents gain access to PowerSchool?
Parents will be provided a secure login code to access the PowerSchool system to monitor their students’ progress. The code needed to gain access to PowerSchool can be obtained by filling out the appropriate Access Request Form below.

That’s what our founders believed when they opened The Accelerated School in 1994 in South Los Angeles. TAS set new standards for public schools, and for parental and community involvement, and became a national model for change. Every child is treated as gifted.

What is the after school education & safety program?
ACES offers an After School Education & Safety program (ASES) for K-6 grade students 1:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., Monday and 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday – Friday. This program supports students with homework assistance and activities to complement the schools’ academic day program.

PowerSchool is the student information system for Shelby County Schools. A PowerSchool account is required to be enrolled in school, but it also gives parents easy access to other important processes and student information.
Do I need the PowerSchool student and parent portal user guide?
There is a very thorough PowerSchool Student and Parent Portal User Guide, but most folks do not need it to navigate the system. Students are assigned a username and password when they enroll at a site. Parents can use the student login, but can also set up their own individual “Single Sign On” login credentials.
