The prognosis for patients with acute myocarditis who rapidly recover is very good. Even patients that develop severe myocarditis can completely recover with mild or no complications. However, if damage to the heart muscle becomes chronic and/or progressive, the prognosis for the patient declines.
How do humans get infected with parvo?
It spreads from person to person, just like a cold, often through breathing, coughing and saliva, so it can spread through close contact between people and hand-to-hand contact. Parvovirus infection can also spread through blood. An infected pregnant woman can pass the virus to her baby.

In view of these animal studies and in the absence of controlled studies of aspirin or NSAIDs in human myocarditis, we do not recommend indiscriminate treatment with NSAIDs or high-dose aspirin in patients with myocarditis where there is no or minimal associated pericarditis.

The majority of dogs treated in the hospital for parvo will survive. Once an animal has recovered from the parvovirus it is not likely they will get it again. Immunity to the disease after infection lasts for several years.
