Projects Abroad is the world’s largest provider of international volunteering, internships and meaningful travel experiences. As champions of Responsible Travel, all our volunteer projects work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Do you get paid as a UN volunteer?

United Nations volunteers do receive compensation and other benefits. However, payment isn’t considered a salary. UN volunteers receive a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA).

Are overseas projects safe?

1. Safe and secure volunteer abroad countries. Before we set up an office and projects in a country, we’ve ensured it’s safe and politically stable. We are constantly in contact with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (as well as officials in other countries), regarding safety and stability.

What is volunteer living allowance?

UN Volunteer assignments are not salaried, but include a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA). The VLA is supposed to cover the cost of living and varies depending on the duty station. UN Volunteers are also provided with health & life insurance.

All of our short term volunteer placements have: One or two-week volunteer trips in another country can impact your life in a big way. The lessons you’ll learn through cultural immersion and serving others can stick with you for many years. We can also organize short-term internships abroad.

When can I travel for the programs?

The programs are available throughout the year. So you can choose to travel whenever it is convenient for you.
